An association usually has something real to announce and no communication budget. That combination leaves projects that genuinely matter unseen, while those with an agency budget look like the only ones happening. This page explains what we publish from non-governmental organisations in Romania, under which conditions, and what we cannot publish.
Which press releases we accept from NGOs
- The launch or the results of a project, with concrete data
- Awareness and public information campaigns
- Public positions on policy topics, owned by the organisation
- Events open to the public
- The organisation's own reports and studies, with the methodology stated
What we cannot publish
Fundraisers without an identifiable contact person and without the organisation's details. Donation appeals pointing to personal accounts. Material in which the organisation is only a front for promoting a company — those are commercial advertorials and are ordered as such, on publishing an advertorial.
What we ask for at sign-up
The organisation's full name, its tax identification code and a real contact person. This is not bureaucracy: a press release without a verifiable sender cannot be published by any newsroom, and liability for what appears stays with the publication.
How an NGO press release is labelled
Like any paid material. Romanian Law 363/2007 makes no distinction between a company and an association: if the publication is paid for, the material is labelled. The label does not reduce the credibility of the announcement — what reduces it is the label missing and people finding out. The rules are on our editorial policy page.
What it costs
50 lei excluding VAT (roughly €10) per publication, the same amount as for any other organisation. The first publication, when you create the account, is free. If you run a campaign with several announcements, subscriptions bring the effective price down to 27 lei per publication, and credits do not expire — useful for a project that runs over a year.
If the project is EU-funded
Then the funder's visibility obligations also apply; they are separate from the advertising label and come on top of it. The conditions are on the page about press releases for EU-funded projects.
The three routes a release takes to reach publications, and what each gives, are compared in where to publish a press release, and the market prices for writing, publication and distribution in how much a press release costs.
Frequently asked questions
Does an NGO pay less for publication?
No, the price is the same: 50 lei excluding VAT per publication. What helps in practice is the free first publication and the fact that a subscription bought for a campaign does not expire, so it can be used over the whole project.
Does a company's CSR press release belong on this page?
No. A company's social responsibility project is a company press release, even if the subject is social. It publishes just as well, but as commercial material.
Do I have to send the association's tax code?
Yes, together with the full name. Publication is invoiced, and the sender has to be identifiable in the material.
Do you publish donation appeals?
We do, if the organisation's details, the official account and a contact person appear. Without them, no — an anonymous fundraiser cannot be verified by anyone and liability stays with the publication.
